The festive season is here, and what a fun time of year it is! But with it comes socialising, late nights and parties which makes it difficult to keep our health routine on track.

 

The festive season brings an abundance of sweets and temptations; we tend to overeat and eat at irregular times. Not to mention more alcohol is usually consumed. All these are causes for the build-up of toxins, or impurities in our body. If left unchecked, toxins accumulate throughout our body, clogging our systems, channels and ducts, weakening our immune and energy systems.

“Too many people die with their music still in them.” as tragic as this observation is, the real tragedy in my view is the increasing number of people whose music has died long before they have, at the hands of professional burnout.

Leading in the 21st Century calls for a very unique set of leadership skills and behaviours - not only is the environment we lead in a constant state of change,  but the generations that we are leading are also changing, with a very different set of attributes than those of their parents and grandparents.

 

Gen Y, and Gen Z (who will shortly be joining them in the workforce) come with their own unique perspectives, values, motivations, and expectations of their lives, careers, and leaders.

This week I have been reflecting on what really makes for happiness, and why it is all too often such a fleeting emotion.

 

I think the essential problem with finding and hanging onto happiness is the fact that so many of us spend our day to day existence looking 'forward' to something about to happen or ruminating over something that has long past rather than experiencing in full what actually is.
